Liberation Period

Around the year 1939, agitations for making the area independent municipality gained impetus. Petitions of people flooded the offices of concerned agencies;

MARCH 4, 1949

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 205 by Pres. Elpidio Quirino proclaiming the area an independent municipality in the name of ANDRESON (a rather foreign-sounding name). 

MAY 28, 1949

EXECUTIVE ORDER 218 was signed by the same president changing the name to "GARCHITORENA";

AUGUST 11, 1949

FORMAL INAUGURATION  of the Municipality of Garchitorena;

First (appointed) mayor of Garchitorena was Hon. Honesto L. Lara, Sr.
